D-Day Bell
Release date June 6, 2025
What makes this D-Day Bell Special ~
My commemorative D-Day Bell design is made of a Half Crown from Great Britain, a Canadian Half Dollar, and a US Half Dollar, all minted in 1944. The top is a cross overlayed with a Star of David. In the Normandy American Cemetery, there are crosses and Stars of David marking all the graves of those that were killed, not only on D-Day, but in the Normandy area. The ringer is made from a shell casing from a .30 odd 6 cartridge, manufactured at the Denver Ordinance Plant in 1942. The hanger is a piece of wire removed from a P51 Mustang. These parts of the bell have history and represent the sacrifices made June 6, 1944. Because each bell is handmade, no two bells will be exactly the same.
A Tribute ~
A Tribute ~ Eisenhower’s D-Day Message
My wife Diane and I have had the privilege of traveling to some of the D-Day sites. We produced this video in order to honor those who fought and lived, and for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice during the D-Day landings. We honor all who sacrificed for us on that day and during the whole of WWII.
A special moment for Diane ~
Don Malarkey receives a pair of kisses from Diane Thomas, left, and Pam Kragt during a reunion of the “Band of Brothers” soldiers at the Strategic Air & Space Museum. Malarkey was one of six members of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment’s Easy Company to take part in a fundraiser and other activities at the museum near Ashland, Nebraska in 2009.
Don passed away at the age of 96 on September 30th, 2017.
Diane was a member of the Avi8ors quartet out of Omaha, NE from 2006-2011. The group sang 1940’s era music for many veteran reunions, air shows, and other groups and events throughout the US.
